KORNATI

KORNATIKornati islands is the biggest archipelago in the Adriatic sea, with its 147 islands, small islands and reefs. In the north-west part of the islands, exposed to the open sea, island cliffs are extremely steep, best illustrated by the reefs Klobucar (height 80m), Mana (height 65m) and Rasip Veli (64m). Since all rocks are made of limestone there are no drinking water sources or streams. In some slough whose bottoms are covered with red dirt, the water detains through the entire year, and rain is accumulated in the tanks.

PLITVICE LAKES

PLITVIKA JEZERAPlitvice lakes consist of 16 mutually connected lakes situated between the peak of Male kapele and mountain Pljesevica in Lika area. The lake system is divided into upper and lower lakes. The upper lakes, surrounded by thick forests and connected by many waterfalls, are on dolomite rocks, while the lower lakes are on limestone rocks surrounded by scarce bushes.


KRKA

KRKAKrka is a river that rises on the western slopes of Dinara and flows into sea next to Sibenik. On its path it goes through the narrow and deep canyons, over rocky barriers creating beautiful waterfalls, out of which two are ten meters high. Its beauty attracts many visitors form the entire world, and in 1990 there were 400.000 visitors.


ZADAR

ZADARZadar is historical town of Croatia over three thousand years old. It is the centre of the region in which the north and south of Croatia meet. Zadar is rich with spiritual and material culture as well as with tourist tradition and tourist identity of today.

PAKLENICA

PAKLENICA Between the highest peak of Velebit (Vaganski vrh, 1758 m) and Adriatic coast on the surface of 95 km2, there is the Nature Park Paklenica. The most interesting quality of it are the monumental canyons of Velika and Mala Paklenica, whose vertical cliffs that are more than 400m high, made Paklenica world famous alpinist destination.

NORTHERN VELEBIT

SJEVERNI VELEBITNature Park Northern Velebit was declared a nature park on 9th June 1999 due to its distinct variety of rock areas, richness of biodiversity and exceptional natural beauties concentrated on a relatively small area. The surface of the park is 109 km2, and within it there are strict reserves Hajducki and Rozanski kukovi, which are a specific geo-morphologic phenomena and on whose area 150 grottoes were discovered; the most famous is the Luka's grotto, one of the deepest in the world, discovered in 1999.

VRANSKO JEZERO

VRANSKO JEZEROPark covers the area of 57 km2 , and its biggest part, 30,2 km2 is Vransko jezero which lies in the northwest - southeast direction, going parallel to sea coast form which it is less than kilometre away in certain locations. Its position and characteristics make it specific in not only in Croatia but also in the wider European area. It is actually a Karst field filled with water and it represents a crypto-depression.
